Interment will be at Richmond Memorial Park, Rockingham, at 11 a.m., Tuesday, May 4, 2010. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, May 4, 2010, at Scotia Village, Laurinburg. Dr. Neal Carter, Jr., the Rev. Elizabeth Forrester, and Pastor John Stanley will officiate.
She was a member of Laurinburg Presbyterian Church, a former member of First Presbyterian, Rockingham, and of Westminster Presbyterian, Fayetteville. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star. For 24 years she was a volunteer at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, and she served on the Executive Board for 15 of those years. She was named the Frank Nuzum Volunteer of the Year in 1981 and 1988. She was a member of the Board of Directors, North Carolina Society of Hospital Volunteers/Auxillians, and she was editor of the state newsletter. After moving to Laurinburg, she served as a volunteer at Scotland Memorial Hospital. At Scotia Village, she was a member of the Rhythm-Aires, served on the Gift Shop Committee, and chaired the Care and Concern Committee.
Survivors are sons Edward Collins (wife, Sharon), San Diego, Calif., Thomas V. Stanley, Jr., (wife, Mary Alice), Whiteville, and John H. Stanley (wife, Rose), Gastonia; a daughter, Nancy S. Harris (husband, Mike) of Wilmington; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas V. Stanley, Sr.; brothers: J. Nelson Hasty and Wilson A. Hasty; and grandchildren, Susan Leigh Stanley and Michael Brandon Harris.
