Johnnie Marvin Brayboy, Sr., age 73 of Laurinburg passed away on Monday, April 26, 2010 at Scotland Memorial Hospital.

The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, April 29, 2010 at the Shady Grove Baptist Church officiated by the Rev. Donald Bullard, the Rev. Earl Deese and the Rev. Bill Brayboy. Burial will follow the service at Scotland Cemetery.

Mr. Brayboy was born Nov. 6, 1936 in Robeson County, son of the late Marvin and Emmaline H. Brayboy. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He worked in transportation, retiring from the Scotland County School System after many years of service. Johnnie attended Shady Grove Baptist Church where he loved playing his guitar. He also enjoyed working on cars and watching wrestling.

He was preceded in death by siblings, Fronnie B. Locklear, Clover Lee Huggins, Gertrude Coobaugh, Tommy Brayboy and Bill Hardin.

He leaves behind his beloved wife, Luella Locklear Brayboy of the home; his sons, Johnny Marvin Brayboy, Jr. of Hamlet, Jimmie Dean Brayboy of Laurel Hill, and Jeffery L. Brayboy and wife Sharon of Laurinburg; a daughter, Sarah Louise Brayboy and special friend Tony Morgan, Sr., of Laurel Hill; sisters, Rosalee Clark of Lumberton and Margaret Hunt, Sara Perkins and Gladys Howard all of Graham; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 28 at Richard Boles Funeral Service.
