Mrs. Eva Culbreth Knight, 90, of Adams Street died Thursday, April 15, 2010 at her home.

Funeral services were 3 p.m. Sunday at the McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium officiated by the Rev. J. B. Loving. Burial followed in Hillside Cemetery.

Mrs. Knight was preceded in death by her husband David Knight and a grandson David Richard Gilmer.

She is survived by a son, David Everett Knight of Laurinburg; a daughter, Katie Louise “Peggy” Knight of the home; a sister, Lila Shepperd of Laurinburg; a grandson Rodney Strickland; two granddaughters, Patricia Knight and Heather Strickland Crifasi; seven great grandchildren, Josh Oxendine, Patrick Oxendine, Jody Strickland, Derek Strickland, Taylor Strickland, Jadelyn Crifasi, and Adyson Strickland.

Born July 1, 1919 in Scotland County, she was a daughter of the late Wilbert and Nettie Langley Culbreth and widow of the late David Knight. She gave 29 years of service to J. P. Stevens, retiring in 1981. An active member of Springfield Pentecostal Holiness Church for 59 years, she also served as a Sunday school teacher for many years.
