James H. Spangler, 38 was arrested at his E. Covington Street home in Laurinburg and charged with possession with the intent to sell and deliver a schedule II controlled substance, and sell and deliver of a schedule II controlled substance, according to Sheriff Shep Jones.
Both charges stem from methadone pills, Jones said. Spangler sold an unspecified number of the painkiller to an informant.
He was released under a $10,000 unsecured bond.
"He was arrested as the result of an ongoing undercover operation," Jones said. "We will be making additional arrests in the future."
Spangler is currently on probation for two counts of arson and one count each of breaking and entering, and larceny, according to the state Department of Correction.
The 38-year-old is currently awaiting trial for obtaining a controlled substance by fraud and two counts each of drug trafficking and conspiracy.
