Holmes Minson Underwood, age 63 of Laurinburg passed away on Thursday, April 1, 2010 at his home following a very courageous battle with cancer.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday April 5, 2010 at Stewartsville Baptist Church in Laurinburg officiated by the Rev. Eddie Simmons and the Rev. George Davis. Burial will follow at Hillside Memorial Park.

Mr. Underwood was born in Roseboro to the late George W. and Edna Barnes Underwood. Loving and devoted husband of 42 years to wife Linda D. Underwood. After completing high school, Holmes joined the United States Coast Guard and served his country proudly. He attended Pembroke State University, he retired with 25 years of service with LOF Glass Co., and after his retirement he opened his own business Underwood Embroidery which he ran for 12 years. Holmes is a member of Stewartsville Baptist Church, a previous member of the Laurinburg Chamber of Commerce and an active member of the Tuesday Cruisers where he was very active in the Christmas Cheer program.

Holmes was preceded in death by a son, William James Underwood.

Surviving are wife Linda D. Underwood of the home; a daughter, Amy Tucker and husband Mac of  Laurinburg; granddaughter Kelsy Lee Tucker; a sister, Elizabeth Flowers; and a special family friend, Kathleen McLuckie and husband Craig and their children Liam and Alex McLuckie of Mississauga Ontario, Canada.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, April 4 at Richard Boles Funeral Service.
