The Story Spinners Storytelling Guild will hold an open mic event on April 19 at 7 p.m. in the Storytelling Arts Center on Main Street. Guild members will perform stories and audience members will have an opportunity to try their hand at storytelling.

“Come to this event if you love to tell stories or if you just love to hear stories,” said guild chair, Brenda Gilbert. “People often stop me and ask, ‘What do you do at a storytelling guild?’ This is a good time to find out and hear some great stories from local and regional tellers.”

Guild members who will tell stories on the 19th include J.A Bolton from Richmond County, who will share his original story and song about “Old Shag”. Martha Johnson from Florence, S.C. will tell a story about a family Christmas. You’ll also hear Ed Duke, from Aberdeen, who took third place in the 2010 Bold-Faced Liars’ Showdown.

“Our hope is to have a good audience for our guild members to tell to. This will help us grow in our craft and give us confidence. And who knows, we may discover a hidden talent or two,” said Gilbert

There will be no charge for this program
