Lennie Mae Sessoms Goins “Mama Mae”

Mrs. Lennie Mae Sessoms Goins, known as “Mama Mae” of Laurinburg, entered her eternal home with Jesus on Sunday, March 28, 2010 at the age of 77.

Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. on Thursday, April 1, 2010 at the Turning Point Worship Center officiated by the Rev. Stoney Locklear, the Rev. Larry Singletary and the Rev. Richard Tyson. Burial will follow at Hillside Memorial Park.

Mrs. Goins was born in Cumberland County on April 21, 1932. She was the daughter of the late Clifton and Mary Sweat Sessoms and the beloved wife of the late Tony Goins. She was a devoted homemaker, a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Mama Mae loved singing and playing her guitar. She faithfully served the Lord and was a longtime member of the Laurinburg Pentecostal Holiness Church before her illness. She enjoyed attending many other churches and spending time with her family and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mae was also preceded in death by a daughter, Vivian Ann Goins and brother, James Everett Sessoms.

Mama Mae leaves behind her children, sons Tony Curtis Goins and wife Lindy of Laurinburg, Clifton Goins of Laurinburg, and Charles “Chuck” Goins and wife Rhonda of Laurinburg; her daughters, Mary “Elaine” Hinson and husband David of Wagram and Diane Locklear Gidden McDonald and husband Ken of Laurinburg; a sister, Gloria “Dean” Reese of Burlington; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and three great great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, March 31 at Richard Boles Funeral Service.
