Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, March 30, 2010 at Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel officiated by the Rev. Jeffery McGirt and Dr. Glenn Harris. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery.
Mrs. Evans was born in Scotland County on Dec. 3, 1923, daughter of the late Will and Fannie Gibson. She was a devoted homemaker, mother and grandmother. She was a textile worker, retiring from JP Stevens, Inc. after many years of dedicated service. Eva also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, playing bingo, and loved spending time with family.
She was preceded in death by husbands Prince Albert “Shorty” Neal and Luther “Grant” Evans; sons, Bill Gibson and Frankie Neal; three grandchildren, Hope Gibson, William Gibson, and Luther Hatcher, Jr.; brothers Hugh Gibson and Trace Gibson; and a sister, Geneva Jackson.
Eva is survived by her sons, Tracy Gibson and wife Betty, Prince Neal and wife Patsy, and James Neal and wife Karen, all of Laurinburg; two daughters, Mary Hatcher of Columbia, S.C. and Alice Boone and husband Ed of Fayetteville; 16 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and five great great-grandchildren.
The family requests that memorials be made to Preswick Village at 1000 Johns Road, Laurinburg, NC 28352.
