HIGH POINT—St. Andrews Presbyterian College's David Carbonell (6-23-1 overall, 5-12 conf.) has been selected as the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas baseball Pitcher of the Week during week number seven in the 2010 season.

Senior reliever David Carbonell provided the composed arm on the mound that St. Andrews Presbyterian College needed to win a pair of games against No. 3 nationally ranked Mount Olive College this past weekend, as he earned a win and a save in the two games.

SAPC trailed 10-6 in the first game on Saturday when Carbonell entered the game, but he tossed 4 2/3 innings of scoreless relief allowing the Knights to complete a late 11-10 comeback win in ten innings. Carbonell was credited with his second win of the season as SAPC snapped Mount Olive's nine-game win streak.

Carbonell then entered the series finale the next day and tossed three effective innings of relief to earn the save as St. Andrews won its second straight Conference Carolinas series while giving Mount Olive its second and third loss of the season (in 29 games). Carbonell did allow four runs in the 20-8 blowout victory, but was aggressive against the Trojans lineup that bats over .400, to keep them at bay with five strikeouts to pick up the save.

The St. Charles, Ill., native leads SAPC in wins, saves, innings pitched, and strikeouts.
