Outside of senior Josie Yang, no other Scotland player has scored a goal at Pate Stadium this season.

That trend continued Monday night.

Pinecrest (4-3-2, 2-0 SEC) scored three times in each half on their way to a 6-0 win in Southeastern Conference action.

Despite the loss, Lady Scots Coach Colin McDavid, was pleased the effort from the girls.

“Tonight, I thought our girls were disciplined to a point,” McDavid said. “They played where I told them to played, but, this was a situation where you come up against a seasoned team. They (Pinecrest) play year round, so alot of things that we’re having to coach on the fly, they already know instinctively.”

After a tight first 15 minutes of play, the Lady Patriots broke through for a 1-0 lead with 26:29 remaining in the first half on a goal from Lauren Corrigan.

Pinecrest would go on to score twice in the final 12 minutes of the half with the third goal being scored by Katie Hieronymous off a corner kick.

The Lady Patriots made it 4-0 less than two minutes into the second half on a goal from Bailey Pages.

The reigning All-State standout, dribbled through all of the Scotland defenders, for her second goal of the game.

Yang was looking to put her team on the scoreboard with 11:49 to play but a point blank shot was stopped by Pinecrest’s Sarah Dejak for her only save of the night.

Kristen Phelps added one more goal for the final tally. The Lady Patriots outshot the the Lady Scots, 24-3.

Despite the goals allowed, Destinee Grove stopped 14 shots for Scotland, who hosts Hoke County, Wednesday at 7 p.m.

“Destinee made some great saves for us tonight and showed leadership in goal,” McDavid. “We’ve got a young team and we’re going to grow from this game. I do not like to lose, but I like that the girls are following the directions and showing improvement.”

In jayvee’ action, The Lady Scots fell in their SEC opener to Pinecrest, 7-0.
