Deputies are still looking for two others involved in the Laurel Hill home invasion.
Brandon Reynolds Tyler, 24, of Evergreen Drive, Hamlet, was arrested Thursday at 1:20 p.m. at his home by Scotland sheriff's deputies and Hamlet police and charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, according to a sheriff's report. Tyler was placed in Scotland County jail without bond, pending his first court appearance on Monday morning in the Scotland County Courthouse.
According to Sheriff Shep Jones, Tyler and two others knocked on the front door of James Strickland on Monday at about 4 p.m. When the 66-year-old man opened his front door door, the three men forced their way into the Crawford Lake Road home. All three donned bandanas of their faces and brandished guns.
The two other robbers held Strickland at gunpoint while Tyler went into the man's bedroom and took $105 in cash and a .22 rifle, Jones said.
The three then fled from the residence.
Jones released a vague description of the other two men. Both were black men in their 20s. One was wearing a red t-shirt and the other was wearing a blue t-shirt. Both had on blue jeans.
The sheriff said investigators are pursuing several leads right now and hope to arrest both other suspects soon.
Brandon is currently on probation for five felony counts of larceny and one count of breaking and entering in Richmond County, according to the N.C. Department of Correction.
