Scotland tennis makes it three wins in three days

The Scotland boy’s tennis team has had a week to remember to kick off the beginning of the season.

Coupled with their first win in 13 years over Pinecrest, the Scots capped off three games in three days with a clean sweep of Hoke County, 9-0, at the Scotland Tennis Center Thursday afternoon.

After Josiah Boda defeated the Bucks, Nicklas Williams, 6-0 and 6-0 in No.1 singles, Scotland’s Will McDonald defeated Wesley Josef, 6-0 and 6-0.

The Scots Tyler Minnick, dropped just one game to Hoke’s Vinnie Trebet before winning the No.3 singles match, 6-1 and 6-0.

Andrew Smith put away Heath Nunn in straight sets in the No.4 singles match.

Allen Michael Minnick became the fourth Scotland player to win in stright sets, as the No.5 singles competitor beat Bryant Terrones.

The Scots Walt Hughes and the Bucks Ethan Nunn had a back and forth battle going on, but ultimately, the senior from Scotland won, 6-2 and 6-2.

In doubles competiton, Boda and Smith dispatched of Williams and Josef by a score of 8-0.

McDonald and (Tyler) Minnick teamed up in the No.2 doubles group and also won 8-0 over Trebet and Nunn of Hoke.

Hughes and (Allen Michael) Minnick defeated Terrones and Bryan Perez, 8-2, in No.3 doubles.

Scotland will be at home on Monday when they host Union Pines at 4 p.m.
