For the season, Chavis is now 2-1 with a 2.91 ERA through 21.2 innings. He has struck out 14 batters.
Chavis is expected to pitch this weekend during WCU’s Southern Conference opeing series at The Citadel.
Colby Liles has seen her share of growing pains with the Lady Catamount softball team.
The 2009 graduate is hitting just .138 through 13 games for Western Carolina this year. Of the 13, 11 of them have been starts.
Despite having just two RBI’s on the season, Liles ranks fifth on the team in On-Base percentage at .324 and her 35 putouts, are good for second on the team.
Like her former Lady Scots teammate, Jessica Milligan is adjusting to the college softball pace as well.
Milligan is currently 2-1 with a 4.62 ERA in six appearances this season for Gardner-Webb.
Down at Wingate, Lee Oxendine is continuing to put up outstanding numbers for the Bulldogs.
The senior closer is currently 2-1 with a 0.75 ERA (lowest on the team) in eight appearances while converting a pair of saves and has 15 strikeouts.
Right here in Laurinburg, Ryan Pierce got roughed up in his last outing against Tusculum this past Wednesday, allowing five runs on four hits and seven walks over 3.2 innings.
For the season, Pierce has seen action in four games including one start, striking out 10 in 10 total innings.
Teammate Matt Adams, has seen action in 11 games, five of them starts, for the Knights.
The junior is currently batting .267.
After a quick start for North Carolina Central, Edward Pegues has seen his batting average drop.
Pegues is currently hitting .130 through 10 games for the Eagles. Of those 10, eight of them have been starts.
Jay Flowers is continuing to put up power numbers at Emmanuel College (GA).
Flowers is second on the Lions roster with a .412 batting average. He leads the team with a .765 slugging percentage.
Matt Quick played a hand in Methodist’s (12-5) comeback against Virginia Wesleyan on Tuesday.
The sophomore utility player went 2-for-4 with a run scored in the Monarchs 4-3 win.
For the year, Quick is hitting a .343 clip in 14 games.
In his 10 starts, he’s driven in seven runs.
Parker Bangs has yet to allow a run in his four appearances for South Carolina this year.
The senior, who was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates last year, has allowed one hit in three innings pitched this year. He’s struck out three while sporting a 0.00 ERA.
On the major league circuit, Russ Adams, is hoping to make the New York Mets 25-man roster after coming to spring training as a non-roster invitee.
Nick Liles is looking to move up to Single-A in the Giants organization, after a strong showing for the AZL Giants in rookie ball last season.
After pitching for the Greenville (TN) Astros last year, Tio McLean is hoping to climb up the minor league ladder.
Derrick Lowery looks to make the jump to single-A after pitching in both the Gulf Coast and Pioneer leagues in Rookie ball last year.
At this time, it is unknown where Liles, McLean and Lowery will start their seasons.
