For three innings, Wednesday afternoon’s contest between Scotland and Jack Britt was alot like the rain coming down: steady and close together.

The fourth inning, though, must have felt like a downpour to the Lady Buccaneers.

The Lady Scots sent 12 batters to the plate in the bottom of the fourth and scored seven runs to pick up the 12-2 win.

The game was called after six innings due to the mercy rule.

“Last time we played them (Jack Britt), we had to rally late to win,” Scotland coach Joel McCanna said about the last time back on Mar. 1. “I made a few changes to the line-up, started some players who had not started before and gave the them a chance.”

After picking up a pair of runs in the first inning and a run in the third inning, the Lady Scots led 3-2.

Then the flood gates opened.

Allison Critcher came off the bench and knocked in two runs on a triple to make it 5-2.

Paige Butler followed suit and had an RBI single before Casey Holm scored when Courtney reached base on an error.

Alexis Mishue made it 10-2, scoring when Destiny Morrison reached on an error.

“That was the inning that I made a few changes and the regular starters came back in,” McCanna said on the fourth inning. “The kids hit the ball hard and that was the whole idea. That’s the good thing about this team, they all hit the ball hard."

Ariana Tsalamandris picked up the win for Scotland (3-0) inside the circle, throwing just 60 pitches through four innings of work.

Tsalamandris allowed just two hits while walking four and striking out seven.

Coach McCanna was very pleased with the effort from Tsalamandris in her first start of the season.

“The biggest thing that we’re working on with her is getting her confidence up,” said McCanna. “ Cori (Newton) followed her and gave us a solid inning of work.”

Mishue led a quartet of Lady Scots at the plate with multiple hits, going 2-for-4 with a double and a triple.

Bailey Jacobs finished 2-for-4 with a pair of triples.

Holm and Jonissa Monley came off the bench and each went 2-for-2.
