“I think the start of the game really set the tone,” Lady Scots coach Patrick Williams said of the first inning. “We jumped out extremely aggressive, hit the ball well and it was a difference maker.”
Whitney Britt improved to 2-0 on the year inside the circle by pitching five innings of four hit ball.
Britt allowed six runs, with three of them earned, walked five and struck out one.
Taylor Hale converted the save, allowing just a hit in her two innings, while walking and striking out one apiece.
Brittany Gibson paced Scotland (3-1) at the plate with a 2-for-4 performance with a double.
Shae Barnes went 1-for-4 and Lindsey Wright finished 1-for-4 with a triple and two RBIs.
“We were in the driver’s seat and the weather got sort of messy out there and it affected Whitney (Britt), and they got a rally going” Williams said on Jack Britt’s comeback. “I was real impressed with the effort that the girls gave out there. When they (Jack Britt) started to comeback, we didn’t give up, we just kept our composure and got the win.”
The Lady Scots will be off until Monday when they travel to Anson County at 5 p.m.
In baseball action, Scotland and Jack Britt battled for 11 innings, but the Scots came out on top, 5-4.
Logan Weagraff got the win in relief, pitching four innings. Josh Collins started the game and went six innings, but did not factor into the decision. Alex Fricke pitched the eleventh and picked up his first save of the year.
Curt Britt went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Scotland (4-0) while Damien Burr finished 2-for-4
