SANFORD- Something about playing Southern Lee, brings out the best in Scotland’s Josie Yang.

Wednesday night, the senior continued to display that prowess.

Yang found the back of the net twice in the Lady Scots 2-1 win over the Lady Cavaliers.

“The conditions definitely played a role tonight,” Scotland coach Colin McDavid said. “We had chances but we weren’t able to capitalize on them.”

Yang scored her first goal on a breakaway to make 1-0 early in the first half. Greta Griswold came up with the assist.

After Southern Lee tied it at one before halftime, Shea Poage executed a nice bounce pass to a wide open Yang, who tuck it into the net midway through the second half.

Coach McDavid gave high praise to the defense for keeping the game close.

“Destiny (rove) did a great job in goal for us. Shea (Poage) led the defense and Kalyan (Ganus) really stepped up to help her,” said McDavid of the defense. “ Carmel (Strimban) had best game of the season so far.

Scotland (2-1-1) will be in action tonight at 7 p.m. when they host South View.

In jayvee’ action, Jelyn Strickalnd had the only goal in a 2-1 loss to Southern Lee.
