“We’re a pretty young team and of the six members that scored, only two of them were juniors, said Lee on the makeup of the team. “Then we had two sophomores and a two freshmen.”
The Scots finished fifth out of six teams during their tournament at the Foxfive golf course in Moore County.
Pinecrest won the tournament by shooting an overall 295.
Purnell Swett’s Alex Dye, who shot a 70, was the individual winner as the Rams finished second at 321.
Just nine points separated third-place Lumberton (339), fourth- place Richmond (341) and Scotland (348).
“We need to work on getting more consistent,” said Lee. “Our short game really hurt us with putting. We just need to try and continue to get better everyday.”
Hoke County rounded out the group with a 444.
Matt Ritch, who’s a three-handicap, led the Scots with a 77 finish.
Graham Jackson finished second, shooting an 88. Will Purcell shot a 91 while both Joe Sojka and Addison McDowell finished with a 92. Bradley Stewart rounded out Scotland with a 112.
The Scots will hit the green again on Monday at 2 p.m. when they travel to the Bayonet Golf Club in Raeford.
