A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 28, 2010 at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel officiated by the Rev. Larry Singletary and the Rev. John Cartrette. A private interment will be held at a later date at King Cemetery.
Mr. Simmons was born Nov. 25, 1940 in Scotland County, son of the late Mayo Simmons and Sadie Huggins Simmons. He formerly worked as an assistant for Butler Funeral Service and retired from the Campbell Soup Company after many years of service. He formerly served as a longtime member of Woodman of the World. Harold also enjoyed collecting coins and all kinds of watches.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Glenn Simmons and a sister, Bertha Williams.
Harold is survived by his daughters, Lorna “Lori” Simmons Hudson and husband Ronnie of Gibson, Katherine “Kathy” Rebecca Simmons of Laurinburg, and Suzanne Simmons Ellis and husband Michael of Laurinburg; two sisters, Ruby Rogers and husband Rufus of Laurel Hill and Estelle Bunyard and husband Richard of Laurinburg; his grandchildren, Gwen Norton, Dylan Ellis, Ashleigh, Stephen and Dusten Hudson; and his special K9 companion, Sissy.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. prior to the service on Sunday at Richard Boles Funeral Service.
