James Dwight Graves of Maxton passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2010 at the age of 74.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 26, 2010 at the St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Maxton officiated by Pastor Ann Giles-Benson. Burial will follow the service at Oak Grove Cemetery.

Mr. Graves was born March l6, 1935 in Marlboro County, S.C., son of the late Nathan Graves and Elizabeth McKenzie Graves. He served his country proudly as a member of the United States Army. He worked in retail management, retiring after many years of service. Mr. Graves was a longtime faithful member of the St. Paul’s United Methodist Church and also the Maxton Masonic Lodge.

He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Jack Graves and Alfred Graves, and sisters Lucille Phillips and Ann Brewer.

He leaves behind his beloved wife of 42 years, Mrs. Sandra G. Graves of the home; his son, Gary B. Graves of Darlington, S.C.; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 25 at Richard Boles Funeral Service.

The family requests that memorials or donations be made in memory of Mr. Graves to St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 106 W. Dr. Martin Luther King Drive, Maxton, NC 28364.
