ROCKINGHAM- While holding Richmond to single digits in all four quarters, the Lady Scots denied their rivals' a share of the Southeastern Conference regular season title with a 34-30 win.

Scotland (16-7, 7-3 SEC), who finished third in the regular season will take on sixth-seeded Purnell Swett at 7 p.m. tonight in the first round of the SEC tournament.

Neither team had a lead of more than five the entire game.

Ariel Ratcliff with the only player on either team to score in double figures with 11 points. Brittany Dockery added nine. Her twin sister, Bridgette collected a team-high 11 rebounds.

LaShey Brown paced Richmond (18-4, 8-2 SEC) with nine points.

In boy's action, Scotland (13-10, 7-3 SEC) squandered a 13-point halftime lead and fell to the Raiders, 57-54.

The Scots had their chance to force overtime, but a 3-point attempt from Mo Covington was off the mark.

Dominique Clark had a game-high 18 points. Covington added 12, all on 3-pointers.

Brian Love, who eventually fouled out, led Richmond (15-6, 6-4 SEC) with 18 points.

Scotland, who received a first-round bye in the SEC tourney, will host the winner of the Richmond-Purnell Swett game, Wednesday night at 7 p.m.

More on both stories, along with the Lady Scots first round tournament game will be in Wednesday's Laurinburg Exchange.
