PEMBROKE – UNCP dropped just one point with a setback at No. 2 doubles, but bounced back to take all six singles matches in straight sets and post a dominating 8-1 victory over visiting Barton in the 2010 opener for both teams Wednesday afternoon at UNCP’s Varsity Tennis Courts.

The win marked the 10th-straight season-opening victory for the Braves (1-0) who also captured its second-straight win over Barton (0-1). Despite still leading the series by a 14-11 count, Barton has now dropped four of the last six meetings with the Braves.

UNCP will be back in action again on Saturday when the Braves make the short trek north to battle Mount Olive in a 1 p.m. match-up at MOC’s Walker Tennis Center.
