St. Andrews alters weekend athletic events

Due to continued inclement weather throughout the Carolinas over the past week and into this upcoming weekend, the St. Andrews Presbyterian College athletics department was forced to make a myriad of schedule changes for men’s & women’s basketball, baseball, and softball.



The SAPC men’s and women’s basketball teams were scheduled to play a Conference Carolinas doubleheader at Lees-McRae College today but the games have been postponed until Tuesday, Feb.9 due to travel concerns. The Lady Knights will tip-off at 4 p.m. followed by the men’s team at approximately 6 p.m.

The St. Andrews baseball team has once again shifted its three-game Southeast Region series at Lander University because of wet field conditions. Saturday’s game has been cancelled and the Knights are now slated to start the series in Greenwood, S.C., with a Noon twin bill on Sunday followed by the series finale on Monday at 3 p.m.

The Diamond Knights have also rescheduled its home game against the University of North Carolina at Pembroke (postponed from Feb. 3) for Tuesday, Mar.16 at 2 p.m.

East Stroudsburg University has decided to cancel its trip from Pennsylvania to the UNC Pembroke Softball Invitational forcing tournament officials to once again make changes to the round-robin competition. St. Andrews will now begin tourney play in against host UNCP today at 4 p.m. then turnaround and play West Virginia State at 6:30 p.m. before concluding play with three games on Sunday. The Lady Knights begin Sunday against Kutztown University at 8:30 a.m.; followed by a second meeting against West Virginia State at 12:30 p.m.; before concluding play against Kutztown at 2:30 p.m.
