Rep Garland Pierce has announced that he will be seeking a fourth term to the North Carolina General Assembly.
Pierce said he plans to continue working hard on the issues that matter the most to his district, such as jobs and education.
"It has been an honor to serve the people of the 48th district in my first three terms and a pleasure to have the opportunity to meet so many of my constituents at town hall meetings and events throughout our community. I look forward to continuing to work hard and get results for the people in my district and throughout the state," he said.
Pierce is the chairman of the Appropriations Subcommittee on Natural and Economic Resources, as well as the Vice-Chair of the Appropriations Committee, Aging Committee and Federal Relations and Indian Affairs Committee.
"I have appreciated the voters in my district sharing their views an the issues with me as I have met so many of them in the years I have been in office," he said. "I have particularly enjoyed touring a number of schools in my district and having the opportunity to speak with students and encourage them to stay in school."
He is also a member of the Insurance, Juvenile Justice and Commerce, Small Business and Entrepreneurship committees.
House district 48 includes portions of Scotland, Hoke and Robeson Counties.
