A Laurinburg man accused of drug trafficking in South Carolina was sentenced to nearly 20 years in federal prison.

Antonio Goode, 39, was convicted of of trafficking cocaine by a federal court in Florence, S.C., and sentenced to 235 months in prison, the Marlboro County Sheriff's Office announced Tuesday.

Goode was investigated as part of a joint operation of Marlboro deputies, S.C. State Law Enforcement Division and immigration and customs agents in September of 2008, according to a sheriff's report. He was arrested after an undercover agent sold Goode a half kilogram of cocaine in McColl, S.C. and charged with trafficking over 400 grams of cocaine.

Deputies also found $15,000 on Goode when he was arrested

Investigators believe "Goode was supplying a good number of low and mid level dealers in the McColl area," Lt. Jamie Seales said.

Goode served more than five years in prison for several assault and drug charges, according to the N.C. Department of Correction.

One incident, which had Goode in and out of prison for nearly a decade, was a shooting that sent two to the hospital in 1991. Police believed the incident was drug related.
