On Monday, Feb. 1, 2010, we lost a resident of this city that has been a light to the community, Pastor Lewis McLean. He was a humble man that loved to make people laugh. He always had an unlimited numbers of jokes ready to share. He believed that laughter was good medicine.

He was never too busy to take a call in the middle of the night when someone called to share their problems. He went to the jail or anywhere else he was needed, even if he didn't know the person. Never once did I hear him complain about his problems, and he had many.

He loved the Lord with all his heart and was an example of Christ's love to those around him. As pastor of the largest church in the community, he could have boasted, but he gave God the credit.

He brought people into the church by loving on them until they wanted to join the family of God. He was always ready to share the plan of salvation and through that gentle spirit, he lead many to the Lord.

He mentored numerous pastors and associate pastors during his fifty years in the ministry. If his path crossed your path, I'm sure you have a special story to share with his family.

He loved serving the Lord and his desire was to serve Him to the end of his life on this earth. And that he certainly did.

He will be truly missed by his family, his church family, and all those who knew and loved him.
