ROCKINGHAM- After not playing for 12 days, you would think that a team might sneak up on the Scotland ninth-grade boy's basketball team and end the streak.

Artemis Robinson and the rest of the Scots, made sure that did not happen.

Robinson led all scorers with 14 points as Scotland (11-0) improved their winning streak to 27 games with a 47-27 victory over Richmond Gold.

"We had an excellent defensive effort with alot of intensity from the whole team," said Scotland coach Jackie Amos. "We got a number of players out with injuries and needed someone to step up."

Joe Sojka and Maurice McInnis were elevated into starting roles for the Scots and scored eight points apiece.

"Both boys played an extremely big role in the win," Amos said of Sojka and McInnis. "Joe (Sojka) started at the point and did a great job distributing the ball and finding people open."

Richmond, who travels to South View today, were led by 12 points from C.J. Lyons.

The Scotland ninth-grade girl's team suffered their first loss of 2010, 45-17 to Richmond Gold.

The Lady Raiders held the Lady Scots to just six first-half points.

Scotland (3-6) will return home today at 4:30 when they host Lumberton.
