The Storytelling Arts Center of the Southeast hosted its 3rd Annual Bold-Faced Liars' Showdown last Saturday in front of a sold-out house on Main Street in Laurinburg.

The afternoon’s program was highlighted by the annual contest. This year’s winner was Wallace Shealy, of Weaverville, NC. The runner-up was hometown favorite Tyris D. Jones of Laurinburg. He bested second runner up Ed Duke of Aberdeen. The People's Choice Winner was Alan Hoal of Cary.

The evening’s program featured a performance by North Carolina musician and storyteller Michael Reno Harrell.

The Art Center now turns it attention to its flagship event the Storytelling Festival of the Southeast that will be held April 23-25 at the John Blue Complex. For more information visit www.storyartscenter.org, or call 291-0929.
