Rep. Pierce has JaMarcus J. Underwood serving as an intern in his office.

JaMarcus is interested in politics and wanted to know more about laws and how they are passed. During his tenure in the office, he will accompany Rep. Pierce to his committee meetings and handle research issues.

JaMarcus is a sophomore at North Carolina Central University in Durham. He has been on the Dean’s List for three semesters, a member of the History Club, the 100 Black Men, and an Emerging Leader. He is a history major with a minor in education. Upon completion of his Degree, he plans to attend graduate school and study for his doctoral degree in history. He completed his high school education from Scotland High in 2008.

He is the son of James and Felicia Underwood, and the grandson of James Underwood, Sr.

“I appreciate JaMarcus for wanting to know more about state government and welcome the opportunity for more students from Scotland, Hoke, and Robeson Counties to observe and learn more about state government. He is a knowledgeable, dedicated to achieving his goals, and an impressive young man. We had some interesting discussions about what he learned from attending the committee meetings and how laws are passed,” Pierce said.
