Scotland splits with the Pirates

LUMBERTON- In a battle for first place in the Southeastern Conference, Lumberton (13-2, 4-0 SEC) got a game-high 23 points from Zeandra Oxendine,including seven 3-pointers, as the Lady Pirates defeated Scotland, 71-62, Friday night.

Demilia Brooks (16 points) and Keanna McNeil (11) points, joined Oxendine in double figures. Jensine Alvarez finished with nine.

The Lady Scots (11-5, 3-1 SEC) was paced by 22 points from Brittany Dockery. Tierra Pate and Ariel Ratcliff joined her in double digits with 12 and 10 respectively.

In the night cap, 32 minutes was not enough to determine a winner in the Scotland-Lumberton boy's game but the Scots prevailed in overtime, 81-78.

Mo Covington hit the game-winning free throws with two seconds left in overtime for two of his season-high 34 points.

Dominique Clark chipped in 17 for Scotland (9-8, 3-1 SEC) while Lamont Browne finished with 12. Otis Cromartie came off the bench and scored eight points.

Christian McRae led the Pirates (5-9, 1-3 SEC) with 25 points. Davonte Davis scored 17 with Ryan Mitchell finishing with 10.
