U.S. Rep. Larry Kissell has added information for those wanting to help with the Haiti Earthquake relief effort to his website.

The website, www.kissell.house.gov has information about aid organizations as well as organizational contacts for those seeking information about the ongoing relief effort.

“I’m sure I speak for everyone in the Eighth District when I say our thoughts and prayers are with the Haitian people. This unimaginable tragedy has touched us all. My office has received many calls from our folks asking how they can help as well as constituents affected firsthand by the tragedy seeking assistance.” Kissell said. “As is always the case when faced with crisis, people are responding in tremendous ways. I encourage any constituent needing help to contact our office for assistance. I'm very proud of our brave men and women from Fort Bragg's 82nd Airborne who are already on the way to provide assistance.”

Any Eighth District resident with family visiting Haiti and needing information should contact the Concord District Office at 704-786-1612.

The USAID Disaster Assistance Team has arrived in Port-au-Prince as has the 72-member Fairfax, Va. Urban Search and Rescue team. Members of the 82nd Airborne stationed at Fort Bragg are en route to Port-au-Prince to begin preparations for a larger deployment scheduled to arrive to help in the disaster response effort. There is a coordinated effort between USAID, Department of Defense, Coast Guard, DHS, FEMA, CBP and ICE to respond to the disaster.

Families seeking information about Americans living in Haiti can contact the State Department at 888-407-4747 or call Congressman Kissell's office at 704-786-1612.

The White House is maintaining a website with the most up-to-date information at www.whitehouse.gov/HaitiEarthquake. Anyone wanting to help can contact the Red Cross at www.redcross.org or the Center for International Disaster Information at www.cidi.org. The USAID’s interactive website is www.usaid.gov. The World Relief site is www.worldrelief.org and UNICEF is www.unicef.org.
