A $25,000 donation from Eaton Corporation will help Hospice of Scotland County provide compassionate end-of-life care to patients at Morrison Manor, the agency’s residential and inpatient facility located in Laurinburg.

Jeff Fiorini, general manager of Eaton’s Golf Grip Business Division, and Carol Thomas, Materials Manager, recently presented a check to Jane Murray, Executive Director of Hospice of Scotland County. Murray says Eaton’s support will help the agency continue to provide residential level care at the manor for patients who are unable to pay for a portion of the daily room and board charge.

“We are so grateful to Eaton Corporation for coming through once again for Hospice of Scotland County and our community,” Murray says. “While Medicaid and Medicare reimburse our organization for the medical expenses of our Morrison Manor patients, there is an additional room and board charge that is not reimbursed. The generosity of donors like Eaton allows us to provide indigent care through our Patient Assistance Fund.”

“It is with great pleasure that we present this contribution to Hospice,” Fiorini says. “Eaton has a long tradition of public service and commitment to the communities in which it operates. Eaton and Golf Pride have supported Hospice of Scotland County for 23 years and we are extremely proud of the relationship we have developed with an outstanding group of caregivers. The service that this organization brings to this and the surrounding communities is certainly very deserving of our charitable contributions.”

As a major sponsor of the annual Richard L. Byrne Memorial Golf Tournament, Eaton has played a crucial role in helping raise more than $2.5 million for Hospice of Scotland County during the tournament’s 23-year run. Eaton employees donate time to help secure golfers, sponsors and silent auction items for the tournament, making it a first-class event.

Eaton has also donated more than $125,000 over the years to support patient care, as well as construction of the hospice administration building in 1999 and Morrison Manor in 2005. These buildings are located in Laurinburg at Eaton Park, named in recognition of the important role the company has played in the history of Hospice of Scotland County.
