A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 9, 2010 at the East Laurinburg Pentecostal Holiness Church officiated by the Rev. Michael Price.
Mr. Bridges was born May 22, 1930 in Scotland County, son of the late M.D. Bridges and Myrtle Owen Bridges. He was a dedicated Chief Court Counselor who served both Scotland County and Hoke County, retiring after many years of service. He served as a longtime member of the South Laurinburg Church of God and also the Scots for Youth.
He was also preceded in death by a son, Brent Bridges and a sister, Beatrice Dixon.
He is survived by his wife, Ruby F. Bridges of the home; son Michael Bridges and wife Darlene of Wagram; brothers Harold Bridges and wife Turi of Marrera, La., Ansel Bridges and wife Anna of Laurinburg, Cecil Bridges and wife Sherreal of Lumberton, and William “Billy” Bridges and wife Harriet of Stem; a sister, Dorothy Danos and husband Warren of Laurinburg; a brother-in-law, Hayden Dixon; a grandson, Michael “Jason” Bridges of Charlotte; and a great-grandson, Daniel Bridges.
The family requests that memorial donations be made in memory of Mr. Bridges to Hospice of Scotland County, P.O. Box 1033, Laurinburg, NC 28353.
