Church break-in reported

A Laurel Hill church was the victim of a break-in sometime during the New Year holiday.

Theodore Breeden, 56, of Bunch Road, told deputies someone broke into Johnson Baptist Church, also on Bunch Road, and stole a $600 washing machine and two window air-conditioning units valued at $1,000 sometime between Dec. 28 and Tuesday, according to a sheriff's report.

There was $600 in damage to a pair of storm doors and $200 in damage to a wooden door, according to the report.

Copper theft reported

A 50-year old Maxton woman reported copper being stolen from three residences.

Loretta Torain, of Steed Circle, reported on Monday that someone broke into three homes that she owns and stole $475 in copper, according to a sheriff’s report.

Damages were $3,000 to the homes. The copper was later found on Honey Lane and Patterson Street.

Man charged in assault

A Scotland County man was arrested Tuesday on assault charges, according to a sheriff's report.

Ronald Mitchell Woods, 38, was arrested at his Turnpike Road residence in Laurinburg and charged with assault on a female, according to a sheriff's report. He was being held in Scotland County jail without bond.

Madonna Annette Cobb, who lives in the same residence as Woods, is listed as the complainant.

Power tools reported stolen

A Laurinburg man told deputies someone stole his tools.

Percy Tew, 66, reported the theft of $718 worth of power tools from his Cedar Lane Road near Laurinburg, according to a sheriff's report. The incident happened between Dec. 26 and Jan 4.

Car reported stolen

A car recently reported stolen was recovered shortly after the initial report.

Jamie Jones, 30, of Ardell Drive, Maxton, reported on Friday that someone stole his 1994 Toyota Camry, according to a sheriff’s report.

It was valued at $4,500. It was later recovered with $500 in damage to its windows.

Power Wheels taken

A Laurinburg man reported that a toy car was stolen from his yard.

Thaddeus Banks told deputies that someone took a red Power Wheels mustang from the yard of his Sally McNair Road residence, according to a sheriff's report.
