Marcus Lewis, a 2005 Laurinburg graduate from Highlands Charter School, has met military requirements to be promoted to the rank of sergeant in the U.S. Army. Stationed at Fort Wainwright, Alaska, he was assigned to the 73rd Engineer company where he has served for the past three years. Lewis recently returned home from a year long deployment in Iraq, where he received several military honors.
This month Lewis, his wife Ashley, son Caleb and daughter Calista will return to North Carolina where he will be permanently assigned to Fort Bragg and will achieve Airborne status.
Lewis' mother Theresa Bryant stated that his family and friends are very proud of his accomplishments.
