Stolen Honda recovered

A car reported stolen over the weekend was found a short while later, according to a Laurinburg police report.

Shaquana Evette McInnis, 30, told officers someone took her green Honda coupe from the driveway of her Hickory Street home in Laurinburg, the report said. McInnis said she'd started the car and left it running while she went inside with her children for warmer clothing. When she returned, the car was gone.

Later, she got a phone call from her cousin saying the car was sitting in the parking lot at McDuffie Village Apartments.

She contacted police and they went to retrieve the car, the report said. The vehicle was unlocked with the keys in the ignition. Police interviewed people in the area, but no one claimed to have knowledge of how the car got there or who was driving it.

Teen cited for possession

A Laurinburg teenager was caught with marijuana during a disturbance call, according to Laurinburg police.

Brittany Michelle Brayboy, 17, was charged with simple possession of marijuana at her home on Butler Street, according to a police report.

An officer came to her residence after a neighbor reported loud music coming from the home, the report said. When Brayboy opened the door, the officer saw what appeared to be a bag of the drug on a table next to the door.

Police seized the bag and Brayboy was given a citation.

Felon charged with burglary, assault

A 36-year old convicted felon was arrested at his Laurinburg home Sunday morning on charges of assault and burglary, according to a sheriff's report.

William Howard Cousar, of McColl Road, was charged with assault with a deadly weapon, burglary by forcible entry, aggravated assault and assault by pointing a gun, the report said. He was placed in Scotland County jail under a $1,000 bond.

Cousar has multiple prior convictions for assaults, larcenies and driving while intoxicated, according to the N.C. Department of Correction.

Two accused of AOF

Two men are accused of assaulting women in separate incidents over the New Year's Day holiday weekend.

Deputies arrested 19-year old Kevin Davis Smith of Airbase Road, Wagram, on Lee's Mill Road near Laurinburg Sunday afternoon on charges of assault on a female, according to a sheriff's report. Courtney Patterson of Old Wire Road, Laurel Hill, was listed as the complainant. Smith was jailed without bond.

James Watson, Jr., 51, was served warrants for assault on a female at his home on Blakely Road, Laurinburg, according to a sheriff's report. Watson was released on a written promise to appear in court.

The complainant was Helen Watson Cole; she has the same address as Watson.

Laurel Hill man charged with assault

A 21-year old was charged with assault on Sunday, according to a sheriff's report.

Kevin Lamont Davis was served warrants at his home on Sixth Avenue in Laurel Hill for aggravated assault and injury to personal property, the report said. He released on a written promise to appear in court.

The report listed the complainant as Chenessa Lynette Wilson of Gumswamp Lake Road, Laurel Hill.

Davis has prior convictions for assault with a deadly weapon, wanton injury to property, assault on a female and assault on a child, according to the state Department of Correction.
