Whatever she said must’ve worked because the Lady Scots came out firing on all cylinders the rest of the game.
Scotland got 11 players into the score book with points while improving to 7-1 on the season with a 71-22 defeat of Terry Sanford Wednesday night.
After leading by six (14-8) after the first quarter, the Lady Scots doubled the Lady Bulldogs scoring output with a 12-3 run, increasing their lead to 15 points (26-11) with four minutes to play in the half.
Scotland followed up the run with an 8-0 run over the last three minutes of the second quarter, highlighted by a basket from Shantel Smith a lay-up from Shonte Deese.
The Lady Scots led at the half, 34-13.
Qua Diggs increased the Scotland lead to 23 (36-13) early in the third quarter with her eighth point of the game. She led all scorers with 12 points.
The following possession, Terry Sanford (2-7) scored their first basket in over four minutes, counting back to the first half.
From there, the Lady Scots went on a 17-4 run and took a 50-19 lead with 1:43 to play in the quarter on baskets from Brie Matthew and Deese with the latter basket being a three-pointer.
Scotland led by 38 points (59-21) at the end of the quarter.
A 10-1 run by the Lady Scots put the score so far out of reach (71-22) that the clock just kept running, even when the ball went out-of-bounds.
Along with Diggs, Matthew added 10 points for Scotland while Tykeria Johnson and Ariel Gates chipped in eight points apiece. (Shantel) Smith and Quintavia Deberry each contributed six. Deese registered seven points.
The Lady Scots will be off for Christmas Break the next two weeks before traveling to Purnell Swett for the Southeastern Conference opener on Jan.8.
