A silver Cadillac ran off the side of the right-side of the U.S. 15-501 as it was traveling south from Aberdeen between Arch McLean Road and Silver Hill Road around 11 a.m. Tuesday. The back seat of the car was loaded with Christmas gifts.
The car spun around and stopped facing northeast. It stopped just yards from Juniper Creeks, a tributary to Shoe Heel Creek.
Deputies had traffic blocked off for half an hour as rescue workers cut a path through the trees to free the motorists and a miniature poodle from the wreck.
Highway Patrol was busy and could not respond to the accident as it occurred. Troopers could not be reached for comment on the wreck.
