A Laurinburg man has been hospitalized following a stabbing, according to authorities.

Adam David Clark, 27, of X-way Road was treated at Scotland Memorial Hospital after being stabbed in his left shoulder, a police report said.

Clark and his girlfriend, 30-year old Vicki Shantale Mishue, told officers that they had driven to Clark's Body Shop on Lee's Mill Road in Mishue's silver 2000 Acura SW1 on Saturday night, the report said. Clark, who was the passenger, stepped out of the car and was immediately attacked by a person neither knew. Clark was forced back into the vehicle and kicked his assailant, who then fled the scene. Mishue told officers she was the one who noticed he was bleeding and took him to the hospital.

Hospital staff told officers it was a non-threatening injury and released Clark that same night, the report said.

Police are investigating this incident.
