HIGH POINT—St. Andrews Presbyterian College’s Zack Garst (4-3 overall, 1-1 conf.) has been selected as the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas men's basketball Player of the Week during week number three in the 2009-10 season.

Garst, a junior center, averaged a double-double for St. Andrews Presbyterian College in three home wins in five days this past week. Garst averaged 12.7 points, 12.0 rebounds, 1.3 blocks, and 1.3 assists per game on 60.0-percent accuracy from the field as the Knights moved over .500 with the three-game win streak.

Garst's week was highlighted in the Knights only league game on Saturday, when he set new career highs of 20 points and 14 rebounds in the seven-point victory. The Knights trailed at halftime, but Garst scored 14 of his 20 points and pulled down nine of his 14 rebounds in the second half to rally St. Andrews to the victory.

Earlier in the week, Garst posted an 11-point, 11-rebound double-double in a win against local arch rival Fayetteville State University. Garst capped his week with seven points, a team-high 11 rebounds, and a career-best three blocks in a win against the Newport News Apprentice School on Sunday.

The Huntersville, N.C., native has four double-doubles in seven games this season and leads the Knights in points (13.6) and rebounds (10.0).

Garst and the St. Andrews men’s basketball team next hits the hardwood against local rival UNC Pembroke on Thursday, December 17 at 7 p.m.
