Mr. Johnnie Richard Barnes, 62, of Newark, N.J., formerly of Maxton, died Wednesday. Funeral services were held Sunday, Dec. 6 at 2 p.m. at Piney Grove United Methodist Church in Maxton. The Rev. Robert Fairley officiated. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Survivors are one daughter, Felecia Barnes of Rembert, S.C.; one son, Keith Evans of Mt. Vernon, N.Y.; three sisters, Delia Quaison of Maxton, Louise (Daniel) Baldwin of Hillside, N.J., and Emma (Sampson) Pegues of Rocky Mount; two brothers, James L. (Ernestine) Barnes of Hillside and Lee Benton Barnes of Newark; two stepsisters, Trussie Farve of Clarksville, Tenn. and Queen Esther (Thomas) Graham of Fayetteville; one stepbrother, Robert E. Hines of Maxton; and two grandchildren.
