FAYETTEVILLE- After trailing Pine Forest by five at the end of the first quarter, Scotland thought that they might be able to stay within striking distance of the Trojans.

Then came the second quarter.

Pine Forest (4-0) outscored the Scots, 24-9 over the next eight minutes, completing the season sweep of Scotland, 72-45 Monday night.

“We started out really well in the first quearter, played well,” said Scotland coach Mike Ritchie. “Then they (Pine Forest) made a run on us and it just went from bad to worse in a hurry.”

After only being down, 14-9, at the end of the first, the Trojans took a twenty-point lead (38-18) into halftime.

“It was definitely the turning point in the game,” Ritchie said on the second quarter.

Lamont Browne was the lone Scot in double figures with ten points. Brad McMillan chipped in eight and Dominique Clark finished with six.

Ryan May set the pace for the Trojans with a game-high 26 points.

“We’ve just got to keep working and keep doing the things that we know,” said Ritchie. “We just need to keep working on fundamentals and keep getting repetitions.”

Scotland will be back at home Wednesday night when they face Anson County.
