Trojans march past J.V. Scots

The Scotland junior varsity boys basketball team outscored the Torjans, 23-18, in the second and fourth quarter.
The first and third quarters, though, were a little bit different.
Pine Forest outscored the Scots, 31-14, during those quarters, dropping Scotland to 2-2 on the season, 49-37, Monday night.
Scotland cut it as close as two in the first (6-4) before an 8-2 run made it, 14-6 late in the first. The Trojan lead was cut to the six (14-8) at the end of the quarter when Pine Forest got called for goal tending on a shot attempt from Caison Murphy.
The Trojans opened up a seven-point lead (18-11) with four minutes to play in the half. The Scots would counter with a 7-0 run, exclmated by a three-point play from Donte Nicholson and a basket fro Jauan Petty, tying the game at 18 with 2:40 to play.
A Dominique Green free throw gave Scotland their first lead of the game, 19-18, 20 seconds later.
Scotland looked like it would take a one-point lead into half time but a three-pointer at the buzzer by the Trojans, gave them the two-point advantage, 23-21, at halftime.
The Scots tied the game at 23 early in the third quarter, Pine Forest put the game out of reach with a 16-2 run over a five minute span in the third, forcing Scotland to take a full time-out with 2:09 remaining in the quarter.
A Travis Wall field goal with 5:03 to play in the game, cut the Trojan lead to single digits 44-35), but the Scots could only muster a single basket the rest of the game.
Wall was the lone Scotland player to score in double figures with 11 points. Dominique Green added nine.
Like the girls, the Scots will travel to Anson County Wednesday evening.
Ninth-grade boys basketball
HOPE MILLS- Scotland ninth-grade boys basketball improved to 2-0 this season with a 55-30 win over South View Monday evening.
Jesse Young led the way with 14 points with Forrest Johnson adding 11 while Artemis Robinson chipped in eight.
Ryan Leak set up alot of those baskets, dishing out eight assists.
The Scots will be at Hoke County on Wednesday..
