Those looking for holiday decorating tips should come away with a head full of ideas after taking part in the upcoming Laurinburg Junior Service League's Christmas Tour of Homes.

The event is Dec. 5. — held for the first time on a Saturday — from 2 to 8 p.m. The tour is the 29th for the service league. Tickets can be purchased at downtown Laurinburg businesses or from Service League members. Kesha Williams and Jamie Synan are serving as Tour of Homes co-chairs.

It will feature six sites, including St. John's United Methodist Church, the oldest Methodist Church in Scotland County and Thomas Walton Manor.

Visitors can start the self-guided tours at any of the homes, but organizers suggest beginning with the annual Holiday Kitchen, stationed this year at Thomas Walton Manor.

The Holiday Kitchen features casseroles, soups and baked goods all homemade by Service League members.

The proceeds from this year's tour will allow the organization to make donations to numerous charities and organizations in the community. The League also provides two scholarships: The Evelyn Butler Phillips Memorial Scholarship and the Dibba John Memorial Scholarship.

Here is a listing of the sites on the tour:

1. Thomas Walton Manor, 400 West Church St., Laurinburg.

2. Mr. and Mrs. James and Lori Wimbish, 15001 McFarland Road, Laurel Hill.

3. Mr. and Mrs. Harry and Penny Abernathy, 23760 Gillis Road, Laurel Hill.

4. St. John's United Methodist Church, Highway 79, Gibson.

5. Mr. and Mrs. Jack and Kelly Ficklin, 13380 Wesleyan Drive, Laurinburg.

6. Mr. and Mrs. Charles and Ann Buie, 102 Sterling Lane, Laurinburg.
