Russ Chiles of Laurinburg has won the Masters Tournament Memorial Trophy at the Senior Pattern Flyers Association. Many individuals competed for this trophy during the year with the top two finalists making their final flights in Atlanta, Georgia, on October 10 and 11.

“It took many hours to construct my Atlas and many more hours of practice to fly the precision aerobatics maneuvers required to win this trophy”, said Russ.

Chiles is a member of the Scotland County Remote Control Flyers club.

"Everyone is welcome to come and view the magic of flight on Sunday afternoons when the group meets to fly their airplanes and helicopters," said Jorge Mir club president. "You may also find several members flying their airplanes during the week."

The group has qualified instructors to teach individuals how to fly model airplanes free of charge.

Those interested may visit the club’s website at www.freewebs.com/scrcflyers for complete details and directions to the airfield.
