Mallory MacNair Thigpen of Wilmington and Kenneth William Broomfield of Wilmington were married at 7 p.m. on Saturday, June 13 at the Surf Club at Wrightsville Beach. The Rev. Elizabeth Forester officiated.

The bride is the daughter of Jimmy and Ivey Thigpen of Laurinburg. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. William Donald Mallard and the late Donald Mallard and Mr. and Mrs. Willie Mack Thigpen, all of Maxton.

The bridegroom's parents are his mother, Kathleen Sumner of Greensboro, and his father and stepmother, Bill and Becky Broomfield of Dover, Delaware.

The bride was given in marriage by her father. The Matron of Honor was Emily Freeman, older sister of the bride from Laurinburg. The Maid of Honor was Katherine Thigpen, twin sister of the bride from Oakmont, Pa. Bridesmaids were Kendall Spivey of Charlotte, Ellen Bjork of Los Angeles, and Jennifer Workman of Burlington, all her best friends from college, and Nichole Pilson of Raleigh, her best friend from childhood. The Flower Girl was Cora Mabrey from Dover, Delaware, goddaughter of the groom.

The Best Man was Israel Mabrey of Dover, Delaware, childhood best friend of the groom. Ushers were Nathan Fritz, Chip Nifong, and Wesley Hege, all of Wilmington and Adam VanCleave of Dallas, Texas, all fraternity brothers of the groom, and Matt Faircloth of Dover, Delaware, brother of the groom. The Ringbearer was Jake Holmes of Fuquay-Varina, nephew of the groom.

On Friday, June 12, a Bridesmaid's Brunch was hosted by friends of the bride's mother at Cafe Phoenix in downtown Wilmington. The rehearsal dinner was given by the groom's family at the Oceanic Restaurant in Wrightsville Beach. The wedding reception was held at the Surf Club in Wrightsville Beach following the ceremony. The wedding was directed by Dora Sharber and Lynn Mason of Laurinburg.

The bride is a graduate of UNC-Wilmington and is currently employed as Community Services Coordinator with United Way of the Cape Fear Area. Also a graduate of UNC-Wilmington, the groom is a math teacher, football coach, and lacrosse coach with New Hanover County Schools.

The couple honeymooned in the Canary Islands and Spain.
