Old Laurel Hill Church to hold Ingathering Nov. 5
Get ready to treat yourself to good food and an opportunity to purchase homemade crafts and other items Thursday when the historic Old Laurel Hill Presbyterian Church holds their annual Ingathering from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the church. Barbecue pork, barbecue chicken and chicken salad plates will be the main menu items to be sold at $7 per plate.
According to ingathering committee member David Breeden, there will be plenty of food to choose from at this year's event.
"We will be selling our barbecue pork and chicken and our chicken salad plates with a variety of sides," he said. "If you order a barbecue plate, you get slaw, sweet potatoes, and hush puppies, and along with the chicken salad will be cupcakes, crackers, pimento cheese sandwiches, and chips. All orders include a drink."
Barbecue will also be sold by the pack.
A number of homemade craft and food items will be available as well, according to church member Sara Stewart.
"We'll have plenty of crafts, cakes, desserts, canned items, and all kinds of goodies to purchase," Stewart said. "We invite everyone to come out and enjoy what we have to offer."
According to Breeden, some 2,000 to 2,500 plates are sold at each ingathering.
"All of the great food and crafts we will have for sale Thursday are made by church members or by members of the church community," Breeden said.
The Rev. Randy Bremer, interim preacher at the church, extended an invitation to everyone to join in the occasion.
"As the others have said, we will have plenty of fine food and handmade crafts for the public to purchase and enjoy," Bremer said. "We invite the entire community to join with us and help us to celebrate this year's ingathering."
