The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2009 at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel officiated by the Rev. Brian Oxendine. Burial will follow the service at Priest Cemetery.
Willie was born Feb. 16, 1938 in Laurinburg, son of the late Clarence Smith, Sr. and Lena Leviner Smith. He served his country proudly as a member of the United States Army and also the North Carolina National Guard. Willie worked in sheet metal and furniture refinishing. He also worked as a security guard for Butler Manufacturing. He was a member of the American Legion Post 50 and enjoyed NASCAR Racing and was also an avid football fan.
He is survived by his lifelong companion, Judy Berryhill of their home; sons Mark Davis of Hope Mills, Michael Smith of Laurinburg and Phillip Lee Smith of Wisconsin; a daughter, Tonya M. Smith of Laurel Hill; brothers Everette Smith of Laurinburg and Clarence Smith, Jr. of Albemarle, his sister, Evelyn Troublefield of Fairmont; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. prior to the service on Wednesday at Richard Boles Funeral Service.
