Man charged for fake robbery report

A 62-year old Laurinburg resident was charged for reporting a robbery that never occurred, according to a Laurinburg police report.

Charles R. Bolton, Sr., of Holly Lane, was arrested Monday and charged with filing a false police report, the report said.

Bolton had told officers that money was forcibly taken from him in the parking lot of a gas station. Police reviewed the security tape and found that Bolton was at the gas station, but never left his truck. They did not see a robbery on the tape, the report said.

Accused dealer arrested

A Laurinburg man accused of dealing drugs was arrested Robeson County authorities.

Craig Love, 44, of Harris St., was arrested on Sunday and charged with possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute and the selling and delivering of drugs, according to a sheriff’s report.

He was placed in Robeson County jail under a $20,000 bond.

Copper, car parts stolen

A Maxton man reported a theft of copper and parts.

Halbert Jones Jr., 61, of N.C. 130, told deputies on Friday that someone broke into his home and stole $2,520 in car parts, $330 in copper wire, $120 in cables, and a $20 range plug, according to a sheriff’s report.

Damages were $300 to a door and lock.

Power tools taken

A man told deputies that power tools were pilfered during a break-in.

Ray Quick, 67 reported on Friday that someone broke into his residence on Jonathan Street in Maxton and 1992 Ford Mustang and stole property, according to a sheriff’s report.

Missing were a $400 weed eater and a $300 chain saw. Damages were $450 to a back door of the home and $400 to a window of the car.

Alleged stolen car wrecked

A Maxton woman told deputies that a car thief took a crash-course in her vehicle.

Hilary Dial, 29, of N.C. 130, reported on Saturday that someone stole her 2000 Ford Mustang from her home and wrecked it on Oquinn Road, according to a sheriff’s report.

It was valued $10,000.

Animal feed stolen

Henry Chavis, 60, of McArthur Road, Maxton reported on Sunday that someone broke into a barn and stole $1,200 of chicken feed and $200 of hay, according to a sheriff’s report.

Cash reported taken

Mia Manning, 27, of Dakota Drive, Maxton reported on Sunday that someone broke into her car and stole $3,850, according to a sheriff’s report.
