Sandy Carter is no longer executive director of Child Care Directions, the nonprofit confirmed on Thursday.

Gladys Holmes, president of the board for Child Care Directions, declined to comment on Carter's departure as director, which was effective Oct. 7, or when the agency would begin searching for a new head.

Jennifer McArthur, an employee of Child Care Directions, says the organization's daily operations will not be affected by Carter leaving.

"It's business as usual," MacArthur said. "We are going on as we always have."

She also would not comment on her boss leaving.

Carter could not be reached for comment.

The former director is currently president of the Pilot Club and a member of Stewartsville Baptist Church.

Carter has been an active member of the Scotland County Republican Party, running for Clerk of Superior Court against Philip McRae, the current clerk.

She has lived in Scotland County off and on since 1976. She is originally from Caldwell County in the western part of the state. She has been married for 22 years to Charles Carter and they have two children.

Child Care Directions, Inc. is a non-profit child care resource and referral agency that was established in 1985. Their mission is "to expand the availability of child care and to improve the quality of child care in our service area so that all children in the community will have an opportunity for healthy early childhood development."
