The money comes from a FIE Earmark Grant from the Department of Education.
The funds will be used to improve the technology backbone and infrastructure of the Scotland County Schools wide-area network and Scotland High School campus by enhancing reliability, speed and security of network service, the 8th District representative said.
“This grant will allow Scotland County Schools to continue to improve access to technology for students and teachers,” Kissell said. “It is important that we continue to work hard to improve our students’ access to advanced technologies that prepare them for the future.”
The current network system is in need of upgrading as the school district prepares to equip every teacher and student at Scotland High School with a laptop.
The current system will not handle the network demands, according to Kissell.
